A cold low pressure system from the Gulf of Alaska swept down the state over the weekend, bringing gusty winds and showers to the region.
For Southern California, the storm was comprised of two main shortwaves that transited over the region - the first on Saturday, with the second shortwave passing through on Sunday. Precipitation totals were greater to the north, where Simi Valley led storm totals with 0.95 inches recorded there. Storm totals dropped off considerably as the shortwaves weakened south and east of Los Angeles County. South Temecula recorded the next-highest total with 0.41 inches, likely having benefited from orographics and northerly flow. Fallbrook and French Valley both followed with totals of 0.36 and 0.34 inches, respectively. In Temecula Valley's Wine County, 0.34 inches was reported through Sunday (courtesy of Jim Sappington). The remaining WeatherCurrents stations all recorded totals between 1/10 and 1/3 of an inch, with Anza receiving the least rain with 0.11 inches. Warmer, drier conditions followed on Monday and are forecast to persist throughout the week, with no precipitation currently in the forecast.
