High pressure over the Southwest will continue hot weather through at least Wednesday. Moderate to major heat risk is expected in the valleys and mountains with major to extreme heat risk for the deserts. Coastal low clouds and fog will continue during the nights and mornings. Isolated shower are possible mainly over the San Bernardino Mountains this afternoon, then an increase of monsoonal moisture will lead to a chance of thunderstorms mainly Monday through Thursday afternoons in the mountains and deserts, with the greatest chances Tuesday and Wednesday. Gradual cooling and drier conditions are predicted late in the week into next week.
