Showers and light rain were present throughout the region for most of Saturday, with some preceding light rains late Friday night and remnant showers on Sunday.
Precipitation totals were mostly consistent in the WeatherCurrents network, ranging from 1/3 and 2/3 of an inch. Beaumont (Cherry Valley) recorded the highest total out of the WeatherCurrents stations, with a total of 0.68 inches. In Yucaipa, a higher total of 0.70 inches was reported (courtesy of Don Kramer). A total of 0.61 inches was reported in nearby East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas), behind 0.63 inches observed in De Luz to the south. In Pinon Hills, most of the precipitation fell as snow, with 0.60 inches recorded there. Roughly 1/2 inch fell in the eastern valleys. Slightly lower totals were observed in the Temecula Valley and nearby areas. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, 0.41 inches had fallen (courtesy of Jim Sappington). Simi Valley was the driest location in the WeatherCurrents network, where only 0.08 inches fell. Lake Elsinore was experiencing a rain gauge clog, which produced erroneously low totals as of Sunday.
A second, colder storm is forecast to enter the region Sunday night and continue into Monday. Already low snow levels (approximately 4,500 feet above sea level) are predicted to drop further on Monday night, potentially to roughly 2,000 feet.
