A fast-moving cold front swept down the state late Thursday, clearing out Friday morning. Most WeatherCurrents stations received rainfall after midnight, however Simi Valley recorded all of its precipitation before midnight.
Precipitation totals were mostly under 1/4 inch, with the exceptions of Simi Valley and Lake Elsinore, both of which were slightly wetter. Simi Valley recorded the highest total with 0.37 inches. The cold front rapidly weakened while entering Southern California, leading to decreasing totals further south and east. Rain fell early Friday morning across most of the region. Lake Elsinore, Fallbrook, and Wildomar were also on the higher end of storm totals Friday, each with respective totals of 0.27 inches, 0.21 inches, and 0.16 inches. On the drier side of the storm - Perris, San Jacinto, and Pinon Hills all recorded the lowest totals with just 0.01 inch each. Anza was not far behind with a total of 0.02 inches. A total of 0.07 inches was reported in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas), 0.07 inches in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington), as well as 0.05 inches in Yucaipa (courtesy of Don Kramer).
High pressure is forecast to build over the southwest this weekend, before a Pacific trough brings cooler weather next week. A slight chance of showers is predicted for Tuesday.
