A wet, windy Pacific storm hammered the region Friday, with lingering showers bringing additional rainfall over the weekend.
Rain was rather heavy in most areas Friday evening, along with excessive high winds. Some communities were put under Flash Flood Warnings by the National Weather Service that evening. Unsettled weather continued into the weekend even after the storm's initial departure, especially in Simi Valley.
Storm totals for most communities were between one and two inches from Friday and Saturday. Exceptions included Lake Elsinore and Wildomar, both of which exceeded two inches of rainfall, while Simi Valley reported an impressive 3.22 inches! On the other end of the spectrum were French Valley, San Jacinto and Beaumont (Cherry Valley) all of which recorded less than one inch. French Valley just barely missed the mark by a single 0.01 inch, while San Jacinto and Beaumont (Cherry Valley) both recorded totals of 0.87 and 0.86 inches respectively.
Other notable totals included 1.56 inches in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas), 1.46 inches in Temecula Valley Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington), and 1.06 inches in East San Jacinto (courtesy of Monty Parrott). Another storm was expected to begin the week of the 26th.
