A cold Gulf of Alaska storm impacted the region Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, interacting with Offshore Flow overnight to produce snow at low elevations.
Inland communities already began reporting rainfall Tuesday morning, due to a deepening marine layer. Precipitation totals for the storm varied widely, from up to 1 1/3 inches in Central Murrieta to nothing at all in Simi Valley.
Snow accumulation was also reported in the Temecula Valley, Temescal Canyon and eastern valleys. Jim Sappington measured 4.5" snow in Temecula Valley's Wine Country, Reginald Stanley measured 0.4" in Central Murrieta, and Curtis Croulet measured 5mm at WeatherCurrents Anza station. Accumulations of up to 6" were also reported in Lake Elsinore, Wildomar and northern Murrieta.
