A slow-moving October storm left strong rain totals in many inland valley locations over this past week, reducing immediate fire risk and providing a strong start to what's been predicted to be a drier than normal rainy season.
The storm got underway on Monday, although few communities had much, if any, measurable rainfall. Moreno Valley was tops for Monday with 0.35".
Most rainfall came on Tuesday, especially in the south. Fallbrook (2.09"), De Luz (1.86") and Temecula (1.65") recorded especially heavy totals. The deluge was enough for street flooding in Temecula.
In nearby central Murrieta, Michael Mojarro reported 1.93", although the WeatherCurrents station to the west only recorded 0.44".
Wednesday morning's rainfall was heaviest in Lake Elsinore (0.38"), although all locations had measurable results.
Thursday's results were heaviest in Hemet (0.33") and San Jacinto (0.28"). Friday followed that pattern as well, with San Jacinto leading (0.06") and Hemet following (0.05").
For the storm, Fallbrook led the way with 2.19", followed by De Luz at 1.97" and Temecula at 1.75". Another report east of WeatherCurrents' Fallbrook station, courtesy of R.C. Blankenhorn, was a hefty 1.72".
Riverside had the driest results with only 0.26", followed by Moreno Valley at 0.51".
Showers were expected to taper off Wednesday afternoon and evening, followed by seasonally cool weather for the rest of the week.
