A band of precipitation associated with a cold gust front swept across the inland valleys Wednesday afternoon, sending temperatures plummeting into the 30s in many areas and changing forms of precipitation.
Graupel, as well as rain mixed with snow, fell at elevations as low as 1,000 feet above sea level Wednesday afternoon. Both quickly melted in sun-exposed surfaces after the band of precipitation passed, however it remained on the ground for longer in shaded locations. Extensive snow was also seen coating all mountain ranges down to around 3,000 feet Wednesday, with particularly heavy accumulations above 5,000 feet. |
