The first real storm of Autumn brought much-needed rain to the region Sunday night and Monday, with totals generally ranging from 1/3 of an inch to just under 1 inch.
Rain entered the region from the north late Sunday evening in waves. This led to occasional heavy rain that would last for 15-20 minutes at a time, and continued into Monday morning. Even after the storm left the region later Monday, dense fog penetrated many inland areas Monday night and Tuesday morning, even producing some measurable drizzle.
Totals were highest in East San Jacinto, where Monty Parrott reported 0.97 inches. Beaumont (Cherry Valley) came in second with 0.84 inches. Most of the Inland Empire received between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch. In East Highland, Peter Michas reported 0.73 inches. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, Jim Sappington reported 0.57 inches. To the east, typically dry Anza received the lowest measurable total with only 0.19 inches. Storm totals for Pinon Hills were not available due to a computer failure there.
After a relatively warm, dry Thanksgiving, a weak storm is predicted for the weekend.
