Dense smoke, coming from a wildfire burning in Camp Pendleton, filled the air across southwestern Riverside County and parts of northern San Diego County beginning Tuesday afternoon.
The fire started in dense vegetation in the northeastern portion of Camp Pendleton (Zulu Impact Area) between 2 and 2:30 PM Tuesday afternoon, and prevailing onshore flow has sent smoke northeast into the inland valleys. The Camp Pendleton Fire Department is responding to the fire, which had burned approximately 400 acres as of 8 PM. No structures have burned nor are threatened at this time. |
