Dry, warm Santa Ana conditions with locally gusty easterly winds will continue this weekend. It will be a bit cooler though, as the strong ridge aloft weakens slightly. More significant cooling will come on Monday and Tuesday as the ridge aloft retrogrades westward. Disturbances from the north will quickly drop south and amplify to fill the void, setting Southern California up for a period of unsettled weather with a chance for some showers and strong winds. A more enduring pattern shift sets up along the coast later next week, ending the extreme dryness and increasing precipitation chances.
