WeatherCurrents Unveils Murrieta, California Internet Weather Site

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: John Toman

(TEMECULA, CA, December 16, 2003) - WeatherCurrents today announces the availability of the first near-real time, online weather for Murrieta, California. The new website can be reached at http://murrieta.weathercurrents.com (or http://weathercurrents.com/murrieta/) and complements WeatherCurrents' existing Temecula weather site, http://temeculaweather.com.

"Murrietans for the first time ever have a local internet weather resource for their community," said John Toman, owner and operator of WeatherCurrents. "Other so-called Murrieta weather sites on the web are actually weather from other locations, such as March Air Reserve Base."

The new Murrieta site provides current weather data, forecast data, past weather and climate data, and weather news and features. The internet site is locally edited and maintained daily. "These are all of the quality local features that have differentiated our Temecula site and enabled it to grow dramatically in popularity over the past three years," said Toman.

The Murrieta weather station captures live weather data from the home of Ted and Connie MacKechnie in northwestern Murrieta, south of Bear Creek, near the western hills. Ted is Lead Forecaster for the National Weather Service, San Diego. Connie is Vice President of Finance for Oak Tree Industries, a homebuilder.

"The climate of Murrieta is unique," said Ted, "and data is lacking for the area. This weather station is positioned to capture/sense/archive the microclimate that's unique to this area."

"The zephyr that blows through [Murrieta] every afternoon is probably the cleanest air stream in southern California," continued Ted, "since there are no towns between here and the coast, and the air blows off of the Santa Rosa Plateau."

"WeatherCurrents has plans to expand our local weather network in 2004 to Fallbrook, Wildomar, French Valley, Menifee, and possibly Lake Elsinore and Hemet," said Toman. "We are actively looking for local homes or businesses in those communities that might be interested in hosting our weather equipment." Persons in those communities interested in local weather that also have an always-on internet connection should contact WeatherCurrents for additional details.

The National Weather Service is interested in making WeatherCurrents' Murrieta and Temecula locations the official weather reporting stations for their respective communities. "The wind observations from the Murrieta station will provide a baseline which will allow us to make better wind forecasts (and verify them) for this area," said Ted.

WeatherCurrents is a small internet weather Media Company locally owned and based in Temecula, California. WeatherCurrents uses only Peet Bros.
