A slow-moving high pressure system and its associated monsoonal moisture brought widespread rainfall to Southern California last weekend.
Saturday and Sunday were mostly cloudy across the region, and scattered thundershowers occurred in most areas. All nineteen WeatherCurrents stations recorded some amount of rainfall over the weekend, a rarity for monsoonal thunderstorms. The last of the showers occurred shortly after midnight on Monday, as the high pressure system responsible for the monsoon weather moves north.
Precipitation totals were widely variable - some communities experienced heavier and more frequent showers than others. Moreno Valley and Perris were both hit hard by a particularly strong thunderstorm Sunday afternoon. Flash Flood Warnings were issued by the National Weather Service at this time.
