Tropical Storm Kay brought widespread rain and wind to the region Friday, before weakening to a remnant low off Southern California's coast over the weekend.

Most of the rain fell on Friday, with only residual moisture confined mostly to the mountains, deserts and foothills during the weekend. Storm totals mostly fell short of predictions, with the notable exception of Anza where 1.36 inches fell. Elsewhere, storm totals were mostly between 0.2 and 0.7 inches, with French Valley being the wetter of the group at 0.68 inches. The eastern valleys were generally drier, with both Hemet and San Jacinto receiving less 0.13 and 0.19 inches respectively. Simi Valley also received a relatively low total of 0.16 inches. Rain totals were somewhat more modest in and around the Temecula Valley. In East Highland, 0.54 inches was reported as of Saturday (courtesy of Peter Michas) while in Temecula Valley's Wine Country, a total of 0.32 inches was reported (courtesy of Jim Sappington). WeatherCurrents' station in Riverside (Orangecrest) experienced what was likely a clogged rain gauge during the storm, having recorded nothing measurable despite confirmed rain in the area.

Saturday was characterized by thick cloud cover and cool temperatures in contrast to the sweltering heat wave the region was enduring earlier in the month, however very little rain fell outside of the mountains due to limited instability.
