By Reginald Stanley. Posted May 14, 2022, 6:53 PM.Widespread temperatures in the 90s, and even a few triple-digit highs, prevailed across much of the region Saturday as a result of a weak high pressure ridge. The region saw a change from cooler than average weather early in the week, to sharply warmer temperatures late in the week - peaking on Saturday. Lake Elsinore was the hottest location in the WeatherCurrents network Saturday, with a high temperature of 101 degrees. East Hemet and Perris both followed with highs of 100 degrees, while nearby San Jacinto reached 99 degrees. Other inland valleys were several degrees cooler, with WeatherCurrents' stations in Pinon Hills, Anza and Simi Valley being spared the worst of the heat. Warmer than average nights also occurred late in the week. Sunday is forecast to be warm, but somewhat cooler than Saturday as onshore flow begins to take influence. Marine layer makes a light return Saturday night, mainly for coastal areas before becoming more prevalent later in the week. With the exception of Wednesday, bouts of onshore flow are expected to moderate temperatures somewhat throughout the week. |
