Cool start to Autumn this year across region

By Reginald Stanley. Posted September 29, 2019, 8:28 PM.

Southern California was treated to cool, damp weather very early this Autumn as a trough created conditions for shower activity across parts of the region this beginning on Wednesday the 25th, concluding on Sunday the 29th.

Shower activity occurred most often between Wednesday the 25th and Saturday the 28th, primarily affecting San Diego County, parts of the Inland Empire, even Simi Valley to the northwest of Los Angeles, as well as some foothill and mountain locations. WeatherCurrents' station in Anza recorded the highest cumulative total with 0.33 inches, most of which fell on September 25. Beaumont (Cherry Valley) recorded the next highest total with 0.17 inches, followed by Hemet with 0.14 inches. Northwest of Los Angeles, WeatherCurrents' station in Simi Valley recorded 0.12 inches on September 28. Additionally, 0.04 inches was reported in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas) as well as 0.01 inch in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington). WeatherCurrents' stations in San Jacinto and De Luz also recorded totals of 0.02 inches each.

Cloudy skies mostly broke apart by Sunday, however a trough will keep temperatures relatively cool early this week before weak offshore flow warms temperatures up slightly during the latter half of the week.
