An inside slider storm delivered rain to the region Sunday evening and Monday, bringing cool temperatures with it. The storm was the first of the month, interrupting an unusually warm, dry February thus far.
The low pressure system responsible for the rain was an inside slider-type storm; one that arrived over land and stalled over Southern California. Precipitation totals generally exceeded predictions, with many communities receiving more than double the amount of rainfall originally predicted for the area. Snow levels in the mountains fell to roughly 6,000 feet above sea level.
Rain began falling early Sunday morning in some locations, in other locations rain did not arrive until Sunday afternoon. Showers continued overnight, locally heavy in some areas. Communities within close proximity to mountains received heavy rainfall Sunday night, such as San Bernardino.
