The recent late-season storm, courtesy of a cut-off low, produced widely variable rainfall across the inland communities. It was the first decent rain since March 9th for most areas in what has been a dry season.
The bulk of the storm arrived Monday morning in the form of moderate rain. Some heavier showers, accompanied by thunder and lightning, took place late Monday night into Tuesday morning. Storm totals ranged from as high as 0.77" in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington) to as low as just 0.05" in Lake Elsinore.
As of Thursday morning, clouds were still present as the low lingers before moving east. Thunderstorms are still a slight possibility in the mountains, deserts, the pass area, and inland valleys Thursday afternoon and evening.
Despite the rainfall, season totals remained well below normal for the 2012-2013 water year.
A significant warm-up is expected this weekend, as a high pressure ridge builds over the region. There is currently no indication of additional rain in the long-range forecasts.
