A series of storms brought scattered rain and mountain snow to the region, each storm varying in intensity and dynamics.
The first storm arrived Saturday, although many communities did not record rainfall until after midnight. Sunday saw heavier rain in San Diego County, however far fewer showers were reported in the Inland Empire. Snow levels dropped to about 5,000 feet. A second storm arrived on Monday, also bringing scattered rainfall, although generally less than the first storm.
Precipitation totals varied greatly from both storms. Anza, normally one of the driest locations in the WeatherCurrents network, received the most rain from both storms. To the northwest, Simi Valley also recorded a considerable amount of rain. The San Bernardino and Riverside valleys recorded the lowest amounts of rain from both storms. The eastern valleys, as well as the Temecula Valley, recorded totals even more variable - from as high as 1.14 inches in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington) to just 0.13 in Moreno Valley - a difference of more than one inch.
Season totals to date range between slightly above average in some locations (such as Hemet) to below average in most other communities across the region. A warming trend is forecast for this week.
