Low pressure dipped down over northern Baja California earlier this week, bringing scattered showers to parts of the region, mainly on Monday and Tuesday. Totals were generally light north of the US-Mexico border, and not all communities received measurable precipitation.
The majority of WeatherCurrents stations received less than 1/10 inch from this event, while south Temecula was the only station in the network that failed to record any measurable precipitation this week. On the wetter side of the storm, the typically-dry communities of Moreno Valley and Riverside (Orangecrest) both received the highest rain totals this week - with 0.31 inches in Moreno Valley and 0.15 inches in Riverside's Orangecrest, respectively. Mild, somewhat unsettled weather continued into Friday, as another area of low pressure drops down the West Coast from the Gulf of Alaska. Chances of rain increase late Friday and Saturday, with rainfall totals projected to be higher and more widespread than the event that affected the region earlier this week. Strong winds, particularly in the mountains and desert slopes, are in the forecast for Saturday.
