Thunderstorms popping up Saturday morning (updated)

By Reginald Stanley. Posted July 18, 2015, 7:57 AM.

Tropical moisture, including remnants of former Hurricane Dolores, is pushing upwards over Southern California Saturday and is already causing clusters of thunderstorms to develop.

Saturday morning, the thunderstorms were limited to San Diego and southwestern Riverside counties. As of 2:21 PM Saturday afternoon, all twenty active WeatherCurrents stations have recorded rainfall. San Diego's City Heights leads the way with 0.82 inches so far. De Luz and French Valley were not far behind, rapidly approaching 0.70 inches. Most other WeatherCurrents stations have recorded between 1/4 and 1/2 of an inch. The lowest total as of Saturday afternoon was 0.04 in Simi Valley.

Thunderstorms will likely continue late into the afternoon Saturday as the tropical moisture infiltrates and passes through the region, pushing into other portions of the Inland Empire as well. Updates will be made periodically.
