Light showers possible Thursday night, Friday morning; cool weekend ahead

Posted January 6, 2011, 11:34 AM.

A weak system currently off the coast could generate some light scattered showers Thursday night and Friday morning in the inland valleys, and a drier, follow-on system will keep the weather cool through the weekend.

Rain chances are low, however, and the National Weather Service expects any rainfall to be limited to less than a tenth of an inch.

The storm is west south-west of San Diego, and, earlier in the week, was originally expected to pass over Mexico. It's going to run into a dry air layer, though, and this will keep the rainfall totals down.

Another system is expected to rush through on Saturday, but this one is dry, so all it's predicted to do is keep temperatures down, and deepen the marine layer on Saturday night.
