The first storm of 2011 didn't take long to arrive, and left up to an inch of rainfall in the already soggy inland valleys of Riverside and San Diego counties.
The system was a cutoff low, and light rain began Sunday afternoon and evening. Some locations to the south (Fallbrook and De Luz) received moderate rain. Showers continued through Monday, lightening into the evening.
Fallbrook led the way this time, with 1.00" of rainfall. De Luz was next with 0.70".
Temecula Valley Wine Country reported 0.67", Temecula received 0.52", Murrieta got 0.49", Lake Elsinore registered 0.44", French Valley got 0.43" and Wildomar added 0.42", to make up the next set of stations.
Most everyone else was between a quarter and a third of an inch for the storm. Moreno Valley recorded the least, with 0.23", closely followed by Riverside at 0.24".
Fallbrook's rainfall pushed it above a normal entire season. De Luz, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Perris, Riverside, San Jacinto and Temecula had already exceeded their normal entire seasonal rainfall.
Hemet was close to its entire season average, and Murrieta was still shy by about two inches.
The region looks to be in for a break from what have been regular storms. There is a low pressure system coming in on Friday, but it's weak and precipitation is expected to stay down in Mexico.
