A strong, cold storm, featuring moderate to heavy rainfall followed by scattered showers, swept through Southern California Monday and Tuesday, leaving between one and three inches of rainfall in inland communities.
Major rainfall was concentrated in the south, where De Luz led the way among WeatherCurrents stations with 2.86". A rain gauge in the Temecula Valley Wine Country was the overall leader with 3.25". Other large rainfall totals recorded were 2.66" in Temecula, 2.60" in Fallbrook, 2.14" in Murrieta and 2.05" in Lake Elsinore.
Stations to the north and east were in the 1 to 1.5" range. San Jacinto was last, with 1.01", followed by Riverside (1.20"), Perris (1.29") and Moreno Valley (1.36").
A follow on storm was scheduled to arrive late Tuesday night and last through Wednesday. Moderate showers and chance of thunderstorms were predicted, with accumulations of up to a half inch of rain. The storm was expected to hit mainly to the south. Cold air associated with the new storm was anticipated to lower snow levels to 2,500 feet.
