A very late season storm, featuring hail, thunderstorms and tornadoes, finally made its exit from the region on Memorial Day. The storm was the first significant rainfall in the area since March 15th and 16th.
Storm totals ranged from 0.49" in San Jacinto to 1.61" in Lake Elsinore. For non-WeatherCurrents stations, Central Temecula recorded the highest totals, with 1.62".
Most of the action occurred on Thursday, when thunderstorms brought hail and tornadoes the inland valleys. Lake Elsinore had 1.60" of rainfall for the day. Perris recorded 1.03". Fallbrook was next with 0.87", followed by Temecula (0.77"), Sun City (0.55"), Riverside (0.51"), and Hemet (0.49").
More significant rainfall came Friday. De Luz (0.43"), Temecula (0.43"), Fallbrook (0.27") and Hemet (0.23") led the way for storm day number two.
Memorial Day weekend brought only sprinkles. Moreno Valley was the only station to record precipitation on Sunday. Fallbrook and Murrieta recorded 0.01" on Saturday.
Memorial Day featured a few sprinkles, with Fallbrook recording 0.05" but nothing else measurable at the eleven WeatherCurrents stations.
