A microburst was reported near the French Valley airport Saturday, May 17th at 2:25pm.
The burst lasted about 10-15 seconds, and featured winds in the 40 mph or stronger range.
Backyard furniture was reportedly moved by the burst at a house on Rose Circle.
The microburst may have been a dust devil, which are fairly common occurrences in the inland valleys. A dust devil earlier this month struck WeatherCurrents' Perris weather station, but did not cause any damage.
WeatherCurrents does not currently have a weather station in the French Valley area, but a volunteer has been chosen and installation should occur within the next year.
Thanks to Mark Wilson for the report. |
