An early afternoon wildfire, fanned by winds, threatened homes in the Sage area Monday. The location of the fire was south of Hemet and east of Temecula, between Osage and Falcon Roads.
No structures were damaged, and containment was expected by 2am Tuesday morning, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Up to 125 firefighters were on the scene.
"Everytime the wind blew, the fire jumped 30 feet more," said Eleni Malandrinos, a nearby Sage resident who was on the scene. She noted that her neighbor's home was threatened by the fire, but that firefighters acted quickly to save their homes.
The area burned by the fire was estimated at four acres.
