Another atmospheric river event targeted Southern California over the past week, with this event bringing somewhat lower snow levels and colder temperatures than the previous storm.
The bulk of the precipitation fell on March 21st, with numerous bands of particularly heavy rainfall repeatedly impacting the region during the AM hours, followed by convection and thunderstorms in some areas later that evening. The storm was also generally wetter than the previous several storms, with totals ranging from as high as 3.47 inches in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington) to a still-modest 1.24 inches in Pinon Hills. The majority of WeatherCurrents stations received between 2 and 3 inches in total, with the eastern valleys being somewhat drier. In Yucaipa, a total of 2.32 inches was reported (courtesy of Don Kramer). French Valley was the wettest station in the WeatherCurrents network during this storm with a grand total of 2.80 inches. Cool but drier weather remained into the weekend, before yet another potentially wet storm targets the region again next week.
