A Pacific trough brought light to moderate amounts of rain to the region late Thursday night and Friday morning, becoming the second early-season storm of October this year to impact the region.
Storm totals ranged from as high as 0.78 inches in Fallbrook, to just 0.01 inch in Pinon Hills. The majority of WeatherCurrents stations recorded amounts between 0.15 inches and 0.50 inches, with foothill and mountain locations generally being wetter. A total of 0.68 inches was reported in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas), as well as a total of 0.57 inches being reported in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington). The latest storm was not quite as exciting for Southern California as the previous storm earlier in the week, however it was still significant for this early in the season. Temperatures remained mostly cool on Friday as the trough passed over the region, however a warming trend is forecast to take place over the weekend before yet another unseasonably deep trough brings small chances for precipitation to the region Monday. Precipitation amounts from that system are currently uncertain, however recent forecasts suggest that only the mountains may see measurable precipitation.
