A trough brought rain to the region Saturday morning, before leaving cool, unsettled weather in its wake as the trough weakened and departed to the east.
Precipitation amounts ranged from 0.20 inches in San Jacinto to over one inch in Simi Valley, northwest of Los Angeles. The majority of WeatherCurrents stations recorded totals between roughly 1/4 and 3/4 of an inch. Rainfall distribution was typical for a winter storm, with mountain and foothill locations favored with locally higher totals, while the eastern valleys were generally much drier. Simi Valley was the first to get hit by the storm, and was by far the wettest in the WeatherCurrents network, leading with an impressive 1.11 inches. Fallbrook placed second with 0.81 inches, closely followed by the mountain town of Pinon Hills with 0.79 inches. In East Highland, 0.64 inches was reported (courtesy of Peter Michas) as well as 0.48 inches in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington). The eastern valleys, including the communities of Hemet, San Jacinto, Perris, and Moreno Valley - all received less than 1/3 of an inch. WeatherCurrents stations in Riverside (Orangecrest) and Wildomar were still experiencing outages during the storm.
Following a dry Sunday, more wet weather was expected during the week ahead. A particularly wet storm is forecast to hit the region on Monday.
