By John C. Toman. Posted January 21, 2013, 6:42 PM.An extended period of dry weather, which included an extended cold spell and the more recent warm weather, will end this upcoming weekend, with a weather pattern change followed by the arrival of a couple of storms. The latest weather models are showing a system arriving in Southern California Friday into Saturday. Clouds and cooling are the only certain prediction, though. It looks like most of the moisture for this storm will be in the mid and high levels, so only light precipitation is currently predicted. The models are not in agreement, however, so stay tuned for further details. The second storm is poised to bring a period of light to moderate precipitation Sunday through perhaps Tuesday. Details and timing are uncertain; the weather models are further apart on the details than for Friday's system. The last measurable rainfall fell in the region on January 10th, and this January remains much drier than normal. |
