Sunday was likely the hottest day of the latest heat event, and temperatures are expected to trend cooler over the next week, according to the latest predictions.
But, temperatures should stay above normal for much of this week, falling below normal next weekend.
Longer term, conditions should recover to near normal for the third week of October, according to the Climate Prediction Center.
No rainfall was predicted over the two week period, and no Santa Ana wind events were expected to develop.
Normal highs this time of year currently range from 77°F in Fallbrook to 79°F in Murrieta, 81°F in Lake Elsinore and Hemet, and 82°F in Temecula.
