Pala Road was finally open to the south this morning, although the creek was still running. The flow was low enough for cars to get across for the first time in two days.
To the north, Pala Road remains closed at Pechanga Creek, just south of Great Oak High School. Many children in the area were able to walk over the construction area to get to school this morning.
Reconstruction continued on the Pechanga Creek crossing today. Boulder and fill dirt have been moved into position to shore up the sides of the Pechanga Creek channel at Pala Road. "They are shoring up and channeling future water flow more directly to the culvert pipes", said Sue Bram, a local resident. "Or so it appears."
New blacktop may be ready on Monday, at which point the road would reopen. |
