Saturday Brushfire in Menifee Valley Consumes 35 Acres (photos)

A fire in heavy brush in the southwestern portion of the Menifee Valley burned 35 acres Saturday afternoon, before it was contained around 6pm. The fire began before 4pm Saturday, October 6th, near the intersections of Bundy Canyon Road and Wright Road. and quickly grew to 15 acres in low humidity weather conditions. Wind apparently was not a factor. A column of smoke from the fire was visible across Southwest Riverside County, from Menifee, Sun City, Murrieta, Temecula, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake and Wildomar. Helicopters ferried water from a RCWD facility in Northwest Murrieta to dump on the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
