In Temecula, Murrieta, and Sun City, temperatures were below freezing for the first time since January 22nd. In Lake Elsinore, the last freezing temperatures were recorded January 21st.

Temperature sensors in eastern Hemet and Riverside are in warmer zones and may not reflect freezing temperatures in colder surrounding areas. Fallbrook and De Luz are not normally subject to frost and freezes, although northern De Luz was close Monday morning at 33.8°F, the coldest temperature recorded at that location to date (since January, 2005). Fallbrook's 38.4°F this morning was also the coldest recorded at that location (in the Winterwarm area, aptly named) since weather data collection began in June, 2004.

Freezing temperatures are currently predicted and frost may also be present Tuesday and Wednesday mornings before warmer weather later in the week.

It's normal to have several days below 32°F during each winter.
