Posted August 20, 2023, 8:27 AM.Tropical cyclone Hilary has moved closer to Southern California this morning, approximately 220 miles south-southeast of San Diego with tropical storm-force winds extending outwards up to 240 miles from the center. Sustained winds from Hilary have been observed at 70 mph near the center, with gusts up to 85 mph. Precipitation has been recorded at all functioning WeatherCurrents stations except for Simi Valley to the northwest. Wind gusts had begun to affect most locations of interior Southern California around 6 AM and onwards, however gusts have not been particularly strong as of yet. Precipitation patterns have been mostly uniform, with the notable exceptions of Pinon Hills and Anza, where significantly higher totals have been observed thus far. |
