Soboba Fire Near San Jacinto Contained Saturday Morning

The first major wildfire of the season in western Riverside County was reported contained Saturday morning, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The Soboba fire had burned 2,080 acres of Cleveland National Forest near San Jacinto, north of Hemet. No structures were destroyed or threatened by the fire. Other fires this past week included the Paradise Fire, in San Bernardino County in the high desert, and the Hackberry Fire in the Mojave National Preserve, also in San Bernardino County up near the Nevada border, near the town of Kelso. The Hackberry Fire was contained on Saturday and had consumed 65,200 acres. |
