The first storm of May hit the region Thursday and Friday, leaving variable amounts of rain in Southwest Riverside and Northern San Diego counties.
A period of showers on Friday, after the main storm energy had passed, proved to be wetter than the bulk of the storm. Much of
the rainfall came down near Lake Elsinore and Hemet, and communities to the south didn't receive nearly as much.
WeatherCurrents' Hemet weather station finally surpassed 30 inches during the storm. It was the last of four WeatherCurrents stations in operation the entire rain season (since July 1, 2004) to hurdle the milestone. Fallbrook continued to lead the way for the season at 37.42", with Murrieta just behind at 37.21".
