Following a dry spell that lasted almost four weeks, a fast-moving storm left up to three quarters of an inch of rainfall in Southern California's inland valleys to close out January.
The storm exceeded predictions to the north and south. Expectations before the storm were for up to 0.15" of rainfall, in the form of light showers.
Most locations did get a couple rounds of light showers. The exceptions were WeatherCurrents' newest station in Beaumont (0.76"), in the San Gorgonio pass, Fallbrook (0.49"), Lake Elsinore and De Luz (0.34"), Moreno Valley (0.22") and Hemet (Valle Vista) (0.18").
All other stations recorded 0.15" or below. The lowest totals were in Southwest Riverside County, with French Valley registering 0.05", Murrieta 0.06", the Temecula Valley Wine Country 0.07" and Temecula 0.08".
Perris broke the 10" mark for the season during this storm.
Cool weather was poised to follow the storm for a couple days, before gradual warming into the weekend. The next potential storm is nowhere in sight.
With the addition of the Beaumont station, WeatherCurrents stations now number fourteen in Riverside and San Diego counties.
