Despite some hot days exceeding one hundred degrees and a few cold mornings in the inland valleys, on average, April turned up average.
Except that the month was dry, continuing a trend that began in the latter part of February.
Rainfall in most communities totaled just a few hundreds of an inch.
An April 10th storm made the San Jacinto and Menifee Valleys the major exceptions, with showers dropping 0.61" in Hemet, 0.28" in San Jacinto, and 0.19" in Menifee. Hemet had enough rainfall to be at about 60% of normal for the month.
Some of the wetter areas, such as Fallbrook and Temecula, had 0.02" and 0.07" for the month, respectively. Normal April rainfall for both locations is just under an inch.
Normal rainfall for April in the inland valleys for longer running WeatherCurrents stations ranges from about 0.60" (Menifee) to 1.03" (Hemet).
