Posted August 28, 2005, 4:28 PM.Many WeatherCurrents weather stations installed since 2003 set all-time high temperature records Saturday and Sunday, as both days exceeded forecast predictions. On Saturday, August 27th, the all-time high temperature record was set in Murrieta. Sunday, August 28th saw records fall in Menifee Valley and Hemet. Hemet's high Sunday of 109.2°F was the hottest recorded there since operations began in January, 2003. It was also the hottest temperature recorded by a WeatherCurrents station this year. The previous all-time high in Hemet was 105.1°F on September 21st, 2003. Sunday's record temperature marked the 11th day above triple digits this year to date. Menifee Valley's 108.0°F (in Sun City) was the hottest temperature there since installation in November, 2004. It was the 25th day above 100°F in 2005 so far. The De Luz station, in the hills west of Temecula and operating since January of this year, set an all-time high temperature of 98.9°F on Friday, August 25th. For Lake Elsinore, Sunday was the 27th day in excess of 100°F this year. A WeatherCurrents station has been operating in Lake Elsinore since January. The all-time high there was set on July 22nd, at 107.2°F. Murrieta's heat record fell on Saturday, when 104.6°F was recorded. The prior all-time high was also this year, 104.1°F on July 22nd. It was the eighth day of 2005 above 100°F. The Murrieta weather station has been operating since November, 2003. WeatherCurrents' oldest station in Temecula, which has been recording temperatures since August, 1999, was well short of the all-time record of 110.5°F, set September 29, 1999, although temperatures above 100°F were recorded both days, the third and fourth time for 2005. Fallbrook's all-time high, since data collection began there in June, 2004, is 101.3°F on September 5th, 2004. Fallbrook has not recorded a triple digit day so far in 2005 (the highest temperature this year occurred this past Friday at 97.3°F). Information was not available for Riverside, which continues to have internet connectivity issues. |
