Stubborn summer-like heat that had firmly gripped the region during the first half October, was finally swept away by the first trough of the Autumn on Sunday - bringing more seasonable temperatures, a deep marine layer and patchy light showers in some areas.
Rain was light, where it did fall. Five WeatherCurrents stations recorded measurable precipitation on Sunday, all of them less than 1/10 inch of rainfall. Anza and De Luz both led Sunday totals with 0.07 inches each. Beaumont (Cherry Valley), Moreno Valley, and French Valley also picked up enough rain to measure. In most other locations, cloudy skies and few sprinkles were all that was observed. A deep marine layer Sunday night gave way to the development of very dry, gusty Santa Ana Winds only hours later by Monday morning. No additional rain chances are in the forecast at this time.
