A weak Pacific storm brought showers to the region during the first week of the new year, with rain totals mostly between 1/4 and 1/2 an inch.
The storm arrived in Simi Valley before the rest of the WeatherCurrents network, which recorded significant rain both on the night of the 4th and morning of the 5th. Most of the region recorded the bulk of their rainfall on Thursday the 5th. Precipitation patterns favored hilly locations, with Fallbrook and De Luz typically leading the way, followed by San Bernardino and Simi Valley. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, 0.43 inches was reported by Jim Sappington. 0.30 inches was reported by Monty Parrott in East San Jacinto, followed closely by 0.29 in East Highland as reported by Peter Michas.
The Temecula Valley and eastern valleys received around 1/4 of an inch. Following the storm's departure, unsettled weather was left in its wake through the weekend. The storm padded already wetter-than-usual season totals for this time of year across the region.
