Another warm storm, this one far wetter than the previous one, brought high amounts of rain and high elevation snow to the region on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A warm atmospheric river event targeted California this week, bringing steady (and heavy at times) rain to the region. Light but steady rain mostly occurred throughout Tuesday, becoming heavier around midnight Wednesday and throughout the AM hours before tapering off. Storm totals were quite high nearly everywhere - only Pinon Hills failed to exceed one inch of precipitation for the storm. Most WeatherCurrents stations received between one and two inches of rain by the end of Wednesday, however Lake Elsinore and East Hemet both finished with a little under three inches, while South Fallbrook recorded a soaking 3.15 inches during the storm. In Yucaipa, 1.95 inches was reported (courtesy of Don Kramer) while in Temecula Valley's Wine Country, 1.64 inches was reported (courtesy of Jim Sappington). Snow levels remained rather high due to the warm nature of the storm, with most snow accumulating above 9,000 feet above sea level.
Drier, slightly warmer conditions prevailed for the remainder of the week. Another potentially very wet week is in the forecast, with increasing clouds and patchy drizzle occurring around the region on Saturday and Sunday.
