A Pacific storm made for a wet weekend across Southern California, with widespread showers beginning Saturday afternoon continuing into early Sunday morning.

In many communities, rain totals were exceptional, with several locations being inundated in excess of double their rain predictions. East Hemet received an astounding 1.08 inches, more than twice the predicted maximum of 1/2 an inch there. Lake Elsinore followed, with 0.88 inches. Not far from Hemet, San Jacinto received 0.69 inches. Simi Valley, northwest of Los Angeles, also recorded 0.69 inches. Murrieta and Beaumont (Cherry Valley) also exceeded 1/2 an inch for the storm. Typical rainfall distribution patterns were not the norm during this storm, as the two WeatherCurrents stations that usually top the list - De Luz and Fallbrook - both ended up much lower on the list than normal this time. Fallbrook recorded 0.50 inches, while De Luz scored even lower with only 0.36 inches - which was 0.04 inches lower than Anza. Only Riverside (Presidential Park) received rainfall lower than predicted, with just 0.23 inches. Pinon Hills recorded the lowest total with 0.10 inches, being a typically dry, rain-shadowed location in the northern San Gabriel Mountains. WeatherCurrents' station in Riverside (Orangecrest) was still experiencing rain gauge problems and the current precipitation data from that station is unofficial.

Following the storm's departure to the east by midday Sunday, cool, partly cloudy weather was left in its wake as a result of the moist air mass left by the storm. Due to a weak disturbance lingering in the region, the National Weather Service expects a possibility of light showers in parts of Orange and San Bernardino counties overnight. Significant rain may be possible next weekend.
