Another cold front brushed through the region Monday, bringing unstable weather Monday morning and steadier showers later that day. The storm followed a cold front that also brought rain to the region just a day earlier.
Precipitation totals ranged from 1/3 to just over 1/2 an inch in most communities. Some parts of the Inland Empire experience thunder, lightning and hail Monday morning as the first and most concentrated portion of the storm arrived. The storm turned to more isolated showers throughout the remained of the day, with additional showers trailing into early Tuesday morning in some areas. Snow levels in the mountains fell to between 4,500 and 5,000 feet above sea level Monday evening.
Notably higher totals were recorded in Beaumont (Cherry Valley) with 1.04 inches, San Bernardino with 0.80 inches, and Fallbrook with 0.69 inches. Other notable totals included 0.70 inches in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas), 0.53 in East San Jacinto (courtesy of Monty Parrott) and 0.46 in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington). Some locations recorded relatively low rain totals, such as Hemet with 0.20 inches, as well as Perris and Central Murrieta with only 0.14 inches each (Central Murrieta total courtesy of Reginald Stanley).
A brief warm-up and drying out period was forecast to occur during the middle of the week before another chance of rain during the coming weekend arrives.
