By John C. Toman. Posted November 12, 2012, 6:01 PM.Dry easterly and northeasterly winds dominated the wind flow pattern on Monday, as they often do in the fall months. This event is being considered a weak one. Simi Valley registered the top mark in the WeatherCurrents network at 49 mph, and had several hours this afternoon with top gusts of 40 mph or more. None of our other locations were even close. Next was Perris (29 mph). Jurupa Valley (26 mph), Hemet (23 mph), San Bernardino (21 mph) and Anza (21 mph) registered gusts of more than 20 mph. In San Diego, the National Weather Service recorded top gusts of 41 mph near Lake Henshaw. Riverside County's top speed was 30 mph, in the San Gorgonio pass, and San Bernardino County's was 34 mph, near Crestline. The surface high over the Great Basin responsible for the winds is beginning to push east. Winds should begin to come down in the prone areas tonight and tomorrow morning, and onshore flow will take over on Wednesday. |
