Posted December 9, 2009, 12:33 PM.According to the latest forecasts, timing and intensity of the next couple of storms are firming up. The next system is weaker, warmer and less windy than Monday's storm. According to the National Weather Service, it's tapped some southern moisture and is due Thursday night, with a decent chance of showers through Friday. Current predictions are for about a quarter of an inch of rain and some snowfall above 6,000 feet. The weekend system is predicted to be colder and wetter. Up to an inch or more of rain is predicted in most locations, beginning Saturday night and turning into showers later Sunday. The upcoming storms would be the second and third of the week, capping a wet start to December. With another inch and a quarter of rainfall, most inland valleys would vault above normal rainfall for the season, recovering from a very dry start. Rainfall for the rest of December looks normal, according to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, although above average temperatures are predicted. |
