A fast-moving low pressure system brought late-night/early morning showers and strong winds to the region Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Areas to the northwest, including WeatherCurrents' stations in Simi Valley and Pinon Hills, began receiving rainfall Thursday evening. Rain did not arrive in the inland valleys until after midnight, and mostly lasted until approximately 5 AM. Showers were heavy at times, however typically only lasted a few minutes at a time. The majority of WeatherCurrents stations recorded storm totals between 0.1 and 0.3 inches, with several locations exceeding the latter mark. Simi Valley recorded the wettest total out of the WeatherCurrents lineup, with a total of 0.37 inches. Anza and East Hemet tied for second place with totals of 0.34 inches. In East Highland, a wet total of 0.78 inches was reported (courtesy of Peter Michas) as well as lightning, thunder, hail, and strong winds. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, 0.30 inches was reported having fallen early Friday morning (courtesy of Jim Sappington). A total of 0.24 inches was reported in Yucaipa (courtesy of Don Kramer). On the lower side of the storm totals were some communities in the eastern valleys and Temecula Valley, as well as Fallbrook. Perris recorded the lowest total with 0.13 inches.

Lingering residual showers remained confined to the mountains around mid-day Friday, gradually diminishing through the afternoon. Drier, warmer weather was expected to return over the weekend and next week.
