Partly cloudy skies and isolated sprinkles replaces triple digit temperatures

After a few days of summer in fall, mid and high level moisture is forecast to end triple digit heat today, replaced instead by a different flavor of typical summer weather: thunderstorms. Isolated light showers are possible this morning in the inland valleys, and partly cloudy skies are due to be with us through Saturday. The best chance of thunderstorms currently looks to be Thursday afternoon and evening. Normally by this time of year, the monsoonal pattern is replaced by surface level high pressure and offshore flow, fueling the Santa Ana season. But this summer and fall to date has been anything but typical. The summer was mild, with only three heat waves of note, and fall has now started with summer-like conditions. Conditions should settle to something more normal by this weekend. |
